Terms of Service
Last updated October 21, 2026
These Terms describe the rules for using ShipStack, what you can expect from us, and what we expect from you.
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of the ShipStack website, applications, APIs and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account, clicking to accept, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself and, if applicable, the organization you represent ("Customer", "you").
If you do not have authority to bind an organization, or do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Accounts and organizations
- You must provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for safeguarding credentials and API keys, and for all activity under your account and organizations.
- Organization owners and admins control who has access and which role each member holds. You are responsible for the actions of users you invite.
- Notify us promptly at support@shipstack.app if you suspect unauthorized access.
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service.
3. The Service
ShipStack provides software for order management, inventory, fulfillment, shipping label workflows, tracking and returns. We may update, improve or change features over time. We will give reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce core functionality of a paid plan.
Test or sandbox modes are provided for evaluation. Labels and data created in test mode are not valid for shipping.
4. Shipping providers, carriers and postage
ShipStack is not a carrier, freight forwarder, customs broker or postage reseller. To buy labels you connect your own account with a supported shipping provider (currently Shippo or EasyPost). Rates for USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL Express and other carriers are returned by that provider.
- Postage is billed by your provider. Label costs, adjustments, surcharges, insurance premiums, duties and refunds for voided labels are charged or credited by your shipping provider to your account under its own terms, separately from your ShipStack subscription.
- Your relationship with each provider and carrier is governed by their terms. You are responsible for complying with them.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of package weights, dimensions, addresses, declared values and customs information, and for not shipping prohibited or restricted items.
- We do not guarantee carrier rates, delivery times, or the availability of any carrier or service, and are not responsible for loss, damage or delay of shipments.
- Before any label purchase, the Service shows the carrier, service and amount for your confirmation.
5. Third-party integrations
When you connect a store (such as Shopify or WooCommerce) or another third-party service, you authorize us to access and exchange data with it on your behalf as needed to provide the Service. Third-party services are not under our control and their availability, APIs and terms may change. Credentials you provide are stored encrypted.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to, and not to allow others to:
- use the Service to ship illegal, hazardous or prohibited goods, or to violate export controls, sanctions or customs law;
- submit false, misleading or fraudulent shipping, customs or customer information;
- access data of another organization, probe or bypass security or rate limits, or interfere with the Service's operation;
- reverse engineer the Service except where the law permits it despite this restriction;
- resell or provide the Service to third parties except as part of your own fulfillment or 3PL services to your clients;
- send spam or unlawful communications to recipients using tracking or notification features; or
- upload malware or content that infringes others' rights.
We may suspend access that we reasonably believe violates this section or puts the Service or others at risk.
7. Subscriptions, trials and billing
- Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through our payment processor. Prices are shown on our pricing page and at checkout.
- Plans include monthly allowances (such as shipments, warehouses and seats). If you reach an allowance, you may need to upgrade to continue certain actions.
- Free trials end on the date shown in your account. Paid features may stop working at the end of a trial unless you subscribe.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable. Fees exclude taxes, which you are responsible for.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice, effective at your next renewal.
8. Customer data
You retain all rights to the data you and your users submit to the Service, including orders, recipient details, products and inventory ("Customer Data"). You grant us a limited license to host, process and transmit Customer Data to provide, secure and support the Service, and as described in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for having the rights and any notices or consents required to provide Customer Data — including your customers' personal information — to us. Where we process personal data on your behalf, we act as your processor and a data processing addendum is available on request.
9. Security and availability
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect Customer Data, including encryption of stored third-party credentials and tenant isolation. We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation; scheduled maintenance and events outside our control may cause downtime.
10. Intellectual property and feedback
We own the Service and all related software, designs and documentation. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service during your subscription. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.
11. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and close your organization at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for material breach of these Terms, non-payment, or to prevent harm, with notice where reasonably possible.
After termination you may request an export of Customer Data for 30 days, after which we may delete it in line with our retention practices described in the Privacy Policy.
12. Disclaimers
Except as expressly stated in these Terms, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", and we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent permitted by law.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, neither party will be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or lost profits, revenue or data. Each party's total liability arising out of these Terms will not exceed the fees you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Postage, carrier charges and shipment losses are matters between you, your shipping provider and the carrier.
14. Indemnification
You will defend and indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your Customer Data, the goods you ship, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material we will notify account owners by email or in the Service before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
16. General
These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service and supersede prior agreements on that subject. The governing law and venue will be specified in the final version of these Terms. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger or sale of assets.
